Adriana Pieternella Bellinger (Groen) of Millport, NY passed away on January 12, 2026, at the age of 81. Adriana was born August 31, 1944, to Lambertus Groen and Maaika (Visser) Groen in Vlaardingen, Netherlands.
Adriana graduated with her bachelor’s degree from Cambridge University in Language Arts. While attending University, she worked at Cranfield University in England where she met the love of her life, Peter Raymond Bellinger. Pete and Adriana moved to the United States after their marriage in 1968 and lived in Seattle, WA, Amherst, NY, and eventually settled down in Jamestown, NY where they raised their two children.
Adriana is survived by her husband of 58 years, Peter Bellinger, her children, Evan Bellinger (Cassie) and Lindsay Dechow (Jason), her grandchildren, Peter Dechow (15), Saskia Dechow (13), and Zoë Bellinger (6), her brothers Pieter Groen and Aad Groen (Dea), and many nieces and nephews. Adriana had many wonderful friends who she called family including the Scharra, Sinclair, Lynch, and Langer families. Adriana was preceded by her first daughter Saskia Nicole Bellinger.
Adriana lived a full, passionate, and loving life until the very end. She would ask that you do not grieve, but rejoice in the memories, celebrations, journeys, and love you shared. Adriana will be laid to rest at a later time in the North Sea of the Netherlands and Sunset Hill Cemetery in Jamestown, NY with her daughter, Saskia.
A celebration of life will be held for family and close friends at Barnstormer Winery on Sunday January 18th from 3:00pm-5:00pm. Her family would like to thank the Millport Fire Department/EMS and Arnot Ogden medical Center for their care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Chemung County Humane Society & SPCA or the Millport Fire Department would be appreciated.
