Johnson, Arleen Vary, age 92 of Bethany Village in Horseheads passed away peacefully on June 6, 2012. She was born September 7, 1919 in Hartford, CT, the daughter of Anna Lawson Wood and J. Earl Wood. She spent most of her life in Odessa, NY and after her retirement, many winters in Lake Wales, FL. She was a graduate of Michigan State College and was a teacher in Odessa for 34 years. Arleen was predeceased by her first husband Nathan F. Vary and her second husband James E. Johnson. She is survived by her son Robert E. Vary (Erna) of Jackson, NJ, grandchildren Robert N. Vary (Annelise) and Katharine Vary (Jaime Belanger) all of Baltimore, MD, and one great-grandson Alistair (AJ) Belanger of Baltimore. She is also survived by step-daughter Callie Bent of Halifax, NS, Penny Johnson of New Minas, NS and stepson John Johnson of Calgary, Alberta. There will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held June 17th at 4 PM at the Bethany Manor in the courtyard. Interment will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Odessa. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choosing.
