Dale A. Heichel

Dale Arden Heichel, age 88 of Montour Falls NY, passed away on Wednesday April 22nd, 2026, at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, NY. He was born to Ralph and Louvah Heichel in Harrisburg PA on September 22, 1937.

Dale is survived by his children Dale II (Brook), Denice Markley, John, Thomas (Tracy Wixson), and William; Grandchildren Timothy (Leah) Markley, Justine and Abbie Chapman-Heichel, Arden and Benjamin Heichel; Great grand-children Evan and Easton and Sawyer Markley; Sibling Bonnlyn Dickerson and his many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Dale was predeceased by his beloved wife Betty (Schaffhouser); parents; siblings Doris (Smithqual), Harley, Marion (Godwin), Robert, Ralph, and David.

After graduating high school, Dale enlisted in the Marines serving from August 1955-August 1959. After leaving the Marines, he met and married Betty in 1962. He worked at Corning Incorporated for 40 years, retiring in 1999. He also taught welding at Padua. After retiring, he filled his time helping his wife Betty with her entrepreneurial endeavors and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening and took pride in his vegetable and flower gardens. He deeply enjoyed spending time with his family and extended family. They were a great source of joy in his life.

Anyone wishing to remember Dale may contribute in his name to the Meals on Wheels Program at the Schuyler County Office for the Aging, 323 Owego St, Montour Falls, NY 14865. 

The family will hold a private service at Highland Cemetery in Odessa, NY on Friday May 1st, followed by a celebration of life at Dale and Betty’s residence on Winton Rd from 12:30-3:30pm. Friends are welcome to come and pay their respects.
