David Lawrence Symes, 72, of Watkins Glen, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was born in Montour Falls, NY on May 11, 1952, the son of James Richard Symes and Caroline Specchio Symes. David lived his whole life in Watkins Glen and graduated from WGHS in 1970. He worked for N.Y.S. Dept. of Transportation, Suit Cote, Vestal Asphalt, and as a general contractor. David was a motorhead having owned all manner of muscle cars with his newest love —his Corvette. He was an avid hunter and loved hunting with his father, brother & friends. David was predeceased by both his parents and sister, Renee. His wife, Mary M. Symes survives him. He is also survived by Uncle Robert Symes, Uncle Lewis Specchio, brother, Mike Tomassi, sister, Teresa Letteer, many nieces & nephews, and a host of friends and loved ones. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Mary's of the Lake Church, 905 N. Decatur St., Watkins Glen, NY. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00 pm at the Watkins Glen Elks Lodge. All are welcome to celebrate.
