Dawn Marie Lutz, 72, of Watkins Glen, NY, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 19, 2025. Born June 20, 1953, Dawn lived a life in service to others as a devoted wife, mother, and friend. Dawn had many acquaintances, but her true friends meant everything to her—she was there for them, and they were there for her. There are too many special friends to name, but what mattered most was that you always knew where you stood with Dawn. She loved time with family and friends and was famous for her hilarious, no-filter stories that could make a trucker blush. A caretaker to the young and the old, she was a "second mom" to many. Proud of her roots, Dawn was born and raised in Elmira and always loved the place she grew up. In recent years, she found joy kayaking on Keuka and Seneca Lakes with her husband and partner in crime of more than 53 years, Bill Lutz. Dawn is also survived by her children, Jody and Kevin; her grandchildren, Ava, Harper, and Jack; her brother, William; her nephew, Dylan, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends. Dawn was predeceased by her parents, Gay Welch and Eldon Hughes. Honoring Dawn's wish for a quiet send-off, the family will keep services private.
