Douglas A. Yaw, 72, of Ovid passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2021. He was born in Montour Falls on June 13, 1948, the son of the late Philip and Mary (Crout) Yaw and graduated from Odessa-Montour High School in 1966. Doug worked at NCR and Transact in Ithaca for many years. He loved classic cars, muscle cars and attending car shows. His pride and joy was his 1950 Chevy pickup. Doug was a hardcore racing fan and enjoyed racing years ago at Butler Drags. Doug is survived by his beloved wife of 16 years, Peggy (Margaret) Yaw; daughters, Kristin Sims, LeAnn Morris and Tracey Newman; son, Aaron Yaw; brother, Philip Yaw; and by several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Yaw, sisters, Evelyn Gascon, Margaret Yaw and Phyllis Smith. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, April 3, 2021 from 4-5 pm at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. A memorial service will follow at 5:00 pm. Burial will be in Union Cemetery of Hector at a later date.
