Elsie M. Hoyt, 96, of Elmira, NY passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elmira. She was born in Charleston, South Carolina on August 1, 1926, the daughter of the late William and Sophie Haltiwanger. Elsie was a housewife and she cleaned homes for many years. Elsie loved her puzzles and liked word search books. She also enjoyed crocheting. Elsie loved animals and she leaves behind her beloved cat Popeye. She is survived by three daughters, Julie Hoyt of Burdett, Sophie Ingersol of Hornell and Karen Luvison of Sayre, PA; four sons, Johnny Rackley of KY, Raymond Hoyt and Eddie Hoyt both of TN and Donny Hoyt of Hornell; stepsons, Pete and Vernon; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; three brothers, Jimmy and Carl of SC and Billy of FL; two sisters, Carol Ray of Canisteo and Emily; and by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin Alfred Hoyt, son, Daniel Lee Hoyt, great granddaughter, Brandi, and brothers, George and Dickey. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, September 1, 2022 from 2:00-4:00 pm at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY. Her funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Greenwood, NY.
