Obituary

Gaynelle C. "Gay" Gauvin, 62, of Johnson City and formerly of Montour Falls, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at her home. She was born in Montour Falls on March 7, 1952, the daughter of the late Alfred and Doris (Stebbins) Gauvin. She graduated from Odessa-Montour High School and then from Mohawk Valley Community College. Gay was employed with Binghamton Handling, Inc. for over 30 years. She was a member of the Sierra Club, Garden Club, and a member of the Ross Park Zoo where she drove the Zoomobile. Gay was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed skiing, hiking and kayaking in the Adirondacks. She is survived by her brother, Fred Gauvin of Horseheads; sister, Adrienne Gauvin of South Passadena, FL; and two nephews, Scott Gauvin of South Carolina and Darrin Gauvin of California. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Odessa. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to the Ross Park Zoo of Binghamton, 60 Morgan Rd., Binghamton, NY 13903.
