Tanner, George A. age 80 of Odessa, New York passed away on May 28, 2012 at Schuyler Hospital, Montour Falls, NY. George was born in Waverly, NY the son of the late Warren and Ethel (Jobe) Tanner. He was a self-employed businessman who operated his Whole Sale Wood Products and Outdoor Power Equipment business from 1956 to 1997. George was a member of the Odessa Wesleyan Church for 60 years, drove school bus for OMCS for many years, Town Councilman for the Town of Catherine for 25 years, member of the Odessa Fire Department and a member of the FLD Camping Association where he enjoyed camping and fishing. He also served in the National Guard. Mr. Tanner is survived by his wife, Iona (Sherrer) Tanner. Children: Pat & Henry Frasier of Alpine, NY, Lois & Brian Hubbell of Alpine, NY and Joanne Dorn Tanner of Odessa, NY. Grandchildren: Joyce & Kevin Matthews, Daniel & Vicki Frasier, Laurie & Brian McCoon, Scott & Jason Hubbell, John & Melinda Dorn and Eric Dorn. Eleven Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother and sister. Friends and family may call from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM on Friday, June 1st at the Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY. His funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, June 2nd at the Odessa Wesleyan Church. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
