Obituary

Harry Allen Simpson, Jr., 70, of Montour Falls, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Montour Falls, the son of the late Harry A. Simpson, Sr. and Edna Voorhees Simpson. Harry worked in the grape vineyards, on dairy farms and also with the NYS Highway Department. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Watkins Glen. He is survived by his loving wife , Ellen (Champion) Simpson; daughters, Ann Marie (David) Smith-Tasker of Beaver Dams, Janet (David) Franzese of Montour Falls, Regina (Gary) Westervelt of Watkins Glen; sons, Harry Simpson, III of Montour Falls, Brian Simpson of Montour Falls, and Duane (Ginger) Simpson of Bakersfield, CA; sisters, Eleanor Kisner of Muncy, PA, and Jackie Case of Burlington, PA; his uncles, Gerald (Jean) Voorhees and Donny Voorhees; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sisters, Genevieve Williamson, Ruthanna Vadala, Marlene Simpson and Gloria Hamrick. A very special thank you to a friend/ daughter/ sister, Kate Mizzoni (Katie's water/couch partner), and also to the Care First staff, especially Mary Ellen, Keri, Sue, Pat, Heidi, Jill and all of the others that helped with Harry's care. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, June 30, 2014 from 6-9 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday evening, July 1, 2014 at 7:30 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2590 State Route 414, Montour Falls with elder Jack Proscia officiating . Burial will be in Montour Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Harry's memory to the Falck Cancer Center in Elmira or to Care First in Corning.
