Helen L. Zafonte, 87, of Montour Falls, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019 at Schuyler Hospital. She was born in Baldwin, NY on May 10, 1932, the daughter of the late Daniel and Alma (Ackley) Smith. Helen was a retired cook at St. Anthony's Church in Oceanside, NY. She was a member of the Cayutaville Church Midweek Group. Surviving are her children, Deborah Mumford, Kenneth Burgess, Cathy Thompson, Tina Zafonte, David (Linda) Zafonte, James Zafonte, Vincent Zafonte, Christopher Zafonte, Theresa (Jeremiah) Snow and Mary (Randy) Aleshevich; a brother, Bert (Carol) Smith; eighteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Anthony Zafonte. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Helen's life on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Watkins Glen Golf Course, 3401 State Route 14, Watkins Glen, NY. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, Montour Falls.
