Irene J. Hubbell-Albanese, 87, of Montour Falls, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017. She was born in Montour Falls, New York, on October 3, 1929, the daughter of the late Harris and Martha (Edminster) Jenkins.

Irene worked for the Schuyler County Farm Bureau Office and E.L.K. Office Services. She was a paper carrier for the Star Gazette, where she was affectionately referred to as the "Paper Doll". She also worked at Agway Petroleum in Ithaca, and at the Academy of Fire Science in Montour Falls, NY. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 142, Montour Falls United Methodist Church, Trust Group, Fireman's Auxiliary of Montour Falls and Central New York, and Good Fellowship with the church.

Irene is survived by her children, Robert (Barbara) Hubbell, Bruce (Ligia) Hubbell, Brian (Lois) Hubbell, Eugenia (Curt) Edsall, Brent Hubbell, Blaine Hubbell, Julie Ann (Joseph) Collins; 15 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren, sisters, Mary Hubbell (Jack Williams), Kay Frances Kannegiser, and Wilma (Rudy) Paige; Daniel West, who she referred to as her "adopted son"; and by several nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by her husbands, Eugene Hubbell and Anthony Albanese, sisters, Marjorie Bailey and Harriet Bailey, and grandson Matthew Edsall.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 4-7 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 10:00 am at Montour Falls United Methodist Church, 124 Owego St., Montour Falls. Burial will follow in Montour Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Montour Falls United Methodist Church, for restoration of the church bell.
