Jack T. Davis, 92, of Horseheads, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018. He was born in Cortland on August 27, 1925 the son of Harry Guy and Lydia (Poling) Davis. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1943 and from Ithaca College in 1949. Jack taught Driver Education and Physical Education for 36 years in Chadwicks High School and Odessa-Montour High School, where he also served as Athletic Director. Jack served as a Motor Machinist's Mate Second Class with the US Navy Amphibious Forces in the Pacific during WWII. He was a member of the Odessa-Catherine United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 676, and LCS Group. Jack was an avid fisherman and hunter, and enjoyed playing cards and all sports. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife of 70 years, Grace (Bird) Davis, brothers, Guy (Leona) Davis, William (Ann) Davis, Donald (Gladys) Davis, Manley Davis, sister, Vera (Richard) Farnsworth, half- sisters Laverne and Victoria, and son-in-law, William Tripp. Surviving are his daughter, Susan Tripp of LeRoy, NY; special friend, Rosa (Greg) Wickham; special nieces and nephew, Nancy (Tom) Downs, Kathy Farnsworth (John Teichmoeller) and Frank (Alicia) Davis; and several other nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Dr. Keith Parker and the St. Joseph's Skilled Nursing Staff on 5C, especially Becca; also to the Cantandos and Ray Sullivan. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, April 7, 2018 from 11:00 am-1:00 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm followed by burial with full military honors at Highland Cemetery.
