James N. Colunio, Jr.

James N. Colunio Jr., 81, of Watkins Glen, NY passed away on July 8th, 2026

James was born on August 5th, 1944, in Montour Falls, NY, the son of James and Josephine Colunio. He is predeceased by his parents, sister Patricia A. (John) Williams, and sister Anne M. (Charles) Mathews.

James is survived by his sister Lisa (Kerry) Kelly, along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

James joined the United States Navy (USN) on January 15, 1964, and served as an E-3 Boatswain aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt during the Vietnam War. During his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device. He honorably separated from military service on January 4, 1968.

James had worked for the Village of Watkins Glen Highway as the superintendent, retiring after 32 years.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 25th, 2026 from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM at Haughey-Wood & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY. A graveside service with military honors will follow at 1:30 PM at Holy Cross Cemetery, State Route 14, Watkins Glen, NY.
