James E. Morrell, 72, of Montour Falls, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Elmira on October 27, 1942, the son of the late Romaine and Elizabeth Morrell and attended Newfield Central School. Jim worked at Shepard Niles, Cotton-Hanlon, St. Joseph's Hospital, Ithaca College and Heritage Builders. He was a volunteer at the Cayuta Food Pantry. He enjoyed scrapbooking, hunting, fishing, and spelunking. He was predeceased by a daughter Carol, grandson Christopher, granddaughter Mariah Morrell, brother Jack Morrell, and cousin Myrtle VanZile. He is survived by his fiancé, Jenny Barrows; his children, Michael, Grant, and James Morrell and Kimberly Kinner; a brother, Bruce (Mickie) Morrell; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. "Dear friends I go but do not weep. I've lived my life, so full and deep. Throughout my life I gave my best, I earned my keep, I've earned my rest. I never tried to be great or grand, I tried to be a helping hand." Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, January 30, 2015 from 5-7 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N.
