James E. Peterson, Sr., 85, of Beaver Dams, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at home. He was born in Elmira on November 23, 1934, the son of the late Stanley F. Peterson and Eleanor L. Pearson (Pipp). James was a security guard at Watkins Glen International Race Track from the 1980's through the late 1990's. He was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Jane Marie Peterson in 2016; daughters, Marie Jane Peterson in 1983, Karen Peterson in 2017; a son, David Peterson in 1995; and a sister, Linda Pipp in 2000. He is survived by five daughters, Karen (Jim), Marie, Margo, Kathy and Mary Beth; four sons, Robert of Kentucky, David of Ohio, James (Kristine) of Burdett, and Shawn (Amanda) of Beaver Dams; a brother, Rev. William Pipp of Carlisle, PA; and by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. A service of remembrance will be held at the convenience of the family.
