James B. Reed, Sr., 77, of Pine Valley, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. He was born in Elmira, NY on March 3, 1940. He served with the US Navy and later retired from the US Army Reserves in 1998. On February 8, 1959, he married his wife of 58 years, Barbara, in Pine Valley. Mr. Reed retired from NYS Correctional Department in Elmira, and he was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Horseheads. He was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed travelling on many trips to Canada. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, James Reed, Jr. of PA, Patricia (Wayne) Reed of Millport, Deanna (David) Dunlap of Millport, and Kimberly (Richard) Scouten of FL; two brothers, Charles(Amy) Reed of Pine Valley, and Guy (Sharon) Reed of Horseheads; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, September 8, 2017 from 5:30-7:30 at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. A service will follow at 7:30 pm.
