Jeanine Schoonover

Jeanine Schoonover, a caretaker and loving mother, unexpectedly passed away on January 17, 2026.

Jeanine is survived by her son, Schaefer Scarritt; her siblings, Jeanette Cleveland and William T. LeRoux III; her stepfather, John J. Sebring, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews, and their children.

She was predeceased by her parents, William T. LeRoux Jr. and Sandra A. Sebring, and her brother-in-law Dale E. Cleveland.

Jeanine was born on June 25, 1972, in Montour Falls, NY. She grew up locally, graduating from Dundee High School in 1990. As a young adult, she married and moved south, eventually settling in Daphne, Alabama, where she had her only son. She spent these years raising her son in the company of her dearest friends. In 2009, Jeanine moved back home to New York where she worked as a Direct Support Professional.

Jeanine was a passionate and empathetic soul who cared deeply for her loved ones. She always went out of her way to make another’s day shine a bit brighter. She will live on through the beautiful impact she has made on the lives of those who knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 1-3 pm at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY. A Memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm.
