Jesse Alan Hayes, 62, of Ithaca, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 25, 2017. He was born in Montour Falls on August 28, 1955, the son of Ralph and Margarita Hayes. Jesse graduated from Odessa-Montour High School in 1973 and went on to serve with the US Air Force. He was employed at Cornell University and previously at Therm. Jesse was a Sci-Fi fan, especially Star Trek. He loved music and the Beatles, and was an avid reader. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Jeffrey Hayes, and nephew Zachary Hayes. He is survived by his sisters, Linda (Kirk) Smith of Montour Falls, and Christina (James) Inman of Lansing; a brother, John Hayes of Watkins Glen; a son, Christopher Carbone; grandchildren, Sierra and Nicholas Carbone; special cousin, Steve Hayes; longtime friend, Bill Payne; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 12-2 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls.
