Joseph Frederick Miller, age 83, died at Schuyler Hospital-Long Term Care, Montour Falls, NY on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 after having suffered a stroke and fracturing his hip on August 17, 2011. He was born in Hector, Schuyler Co., NY on August 5, 1928 and lived in Burdett, NY for many years. Joe was a farmer working at several farms from the time he was in high school and maintained the farm equipment. He was also a volunteer fireman for the village of Burdett, NY. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Emmett and Nina Belle Kendall Miller, 5 aunts and 1 uncle on his mother's side; 5 aunts and 2 uncles on his father's side; 4 half brothers and 3 half sisters and 2 nieces - Tina Marie Travis and Denida Lynn Hyer. He is survived by sisters Janet Anne Miller Tyler of Havertown, PA and Mary Lois Miller Kelley of Deland, FL; brothers James Addison (Louise) Miller of Cayuta, NY and Charles Emmett (Christina) Miller of Montour Falls, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service that will be held November 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Union Cemetery of Hector, Burdett, NY. Arrangements are under the direction of the Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, Montour Falls, NY.
