Joyce A. Groves, 74, of Monterey, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022. She was born in Corning, NY on June 1, 1947, the daughter of the late Earl and Mabel (Lockwood) Comfort. Joyce was an LPN at Schuyler Hospital for many years. Joyce loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed playing cards and board games. Joyce also loved spending time with and buying treats for her two dogs, Duke and Maggie. She is survived by her children, Gerald Groves of Monterey, Terry (Susan) Groves of SC, Krista (Allen) Coats and Kelly (Melvin) Groves both of Monterey; 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; one niece and three nephews; two very close friends Sandy Heneries and Donna Stastyshyn. She was predeceased by her brother, David Comfort and sister, Patricia Gascon in 2020. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 4-6 pm at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. Her memorial service will follow at 6:00 pm. Burial will be held at a later date in Maltby Cemetery, Monterey. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Humane Society of Schuyler County.
