Laura L. Parker, 88, of Montour Falls, passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. She was born in Elmira, NY on September 13, 1932, the daughter of the late Louis and Laura (Ayers) Fosdeck and graduated from Odessa-Montour High School. Laura was a final test operator for Westinghouse Picture Tubes from 1952-1963. After her family arrived, she became a stay at home mom. In 1969, she became the Village Clerk-Treasurer for the Village of Odessa until 1970, then became Deputy Clerk-Treasurer. She was a member of the Penn-York Campers Club and Harris Hillbilly's Camping Club. She and Mahlon enjoyed many camping trips involving 49 states. Laura was a former Den Mother for the local Cub Scout Den for 3 years. She also worked as monitor and pool spotter for Odessa-Montour Central School for six years. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Kelley Parker of Gilford, NH; grandson, Brad Lee Michael Parker, two step grandsons, Dustin and Christopher Overholts; and by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Mahlon Parker in 2018; children, Leon, Joseph and Ellen Parker; brothers, Richard Fosdeck and Louis Fosdeck; sisters, E. Ruth Fosdeck and Theresa A. VanGalder. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, July 12, 2021 from 1-2 pm at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. Laura's funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Dutton Peterson Library, 106 First St., Odessa, NY 14869.
