Lois Marie Rumsey, 90, of Rochester, NY passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025. She was born on December 2, 1934 in Elmira, NY the daughter of the late Claire Raymond Lane and Arberta Hazel Smith Lane and graduated from Odessa-Montour Central School. Lois married Clifford D. Rumsey, Jr. on April 15, 1951 in Corning, NY.

Lois retired from Cornell University after 25 years as a housekeeper. She was a charter member of the Glen Baptist Church in Watkins Glen.

Lois enjoyed sewing her own clothes and was an avid quilter. She also enjoyed cross stitching and crocheting. She along with her husband Clifford spent many vacations camping, taking their grandsons with them during school breaks.

She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Clifford D. Rumsey,Jr.; daughter, Diana Marie Rumsey; brother, Richard C. Lane; and sister, Marilyn Smith.

Lois is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Hiram) Lyon of Rochester, NY; grandcildren, Hiram (Heather Brown) Lyon, Ethan (Felicia Fox) Lynn and Matthew (Alysson) Jenkins; great grandchildren, Arlo and Archie Fox Lyon; siblings, Beverly (Ralph) Carl of Cookeville, TN, Patricia (Claude) States of Lynwood, WA and Roberta (Billy) Sheesley of Watkins Glen, NY; and by several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staffat the Highlands Living Center of Pittsford, NY for their care and support of Lois and her family.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, January 9, 2026 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY. Her funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
