Marian E. "Ginger" Powell, 90, of Montour Falls, NY, died on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born in Elmira, NY on February 3, 1928, the daughter of the late William and Lillian Woodhouse, and graduated from Elmira Free Academy. On February 15, 1946, she married Elmer Powell in Breesport, NY. Marian worked at Artistic Cards in Elmira, and previously as a secretary at Bendix in Elmira. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Catharine, NY. Marian spent twenty years doing genealogy of her family. She loved to pick up sea shells on the beaches of Florida and Myrtle Beach. Surviving are her son, Lance and Pamela Powell of Red Creek, NY; daughter, Kathy Smith of Summerville, SC; four grandchildren, Lance (Greta) Powell of Omaha, Nebraska, Luree (Doug) Avery of Watkins Glen, NY, George Powell of Red Creek, NY and Christy (Tom) Chapman of Painted Post, NY; two great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Elmer Powell in 2007, and by her son, Larry Powell in 2004. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no services.
