Obituary

Marion R. Graves, 83, formerly of Alpine, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility in Montour Falls. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland on October 18, 1932, the daughter of the late Harvey and Augusta (Tyler) Smallwood. She married Leon S. Graves on April 17, 1948. Marion worked at Morse Chain in Ithaca for 25 years and served as Union Steward for Local #1607. She loved country music, dancing, crochet, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Leon S. Graves in 2007, two sisters, Eva and Viola "Tootie", and a great grandson, Dustin Lee Carns, Jr. Marion is survived by her children, Sandy (Phil) Ruocco of Newfield, Sue (Bill) Hyer of Odessa, Cindy (Gene) Corbett of Ithaca, Penny (Will) Cascio of Long Island, Peggy Graves of Pine Valley, and Asel (Brenda) Graves of Newfield; sisters, Evie (Don) Rudolph of Lakeland, FL, and Joyce Blencowe of Corning; brothers, Dennis and Harvey Smallwood of Prattsburgh; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, February 15, 2016 from 2-4 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. A celebration of Marion's life will follow at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Seneca View SNF Activity Fund, 220 Steuben St., Montour Falls, NY 14865.
