Marion Frances (Monahan) Roberts, a longtime resident of the Town of Catharine, NY, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility in Montour Falls. Marion was born on November 9, 1913, the daughter of the late Patrick Francis and Jane Elizabeth (Jennie) McAtee Monahan. Marion's husband, George Lewis Roberts predeceased her in 1978. She was the second of five daughters, and all of her sisters and their spouses, Kathleen and Wayne Bailey, Helen and Edward Jeziorski, Marguerite and James DeNunzio, and Rita and Robert Symonds, predeceased her. Marion had to have had monumental inner strength as each of her four children passed away through the years, Patrick Lewis Roberts, George Wayne and his wife Eileen Burgess Roberts, Jane Elizabeth Roberts and William (Jumper) Roberts. Surviving are daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Roberts; two grandchildren, Nanette and Richard Roberts; two great grandchildren, Maria and Patrick Roberts; five nieces, one nephew; numerous great nieces and nephews; and many dear and wonderful friends. Marion was a member of St. Benedict's Church in Odessa, the St. Benedict Society, Catharine Mothers Club, and Schuyler Hospital Auxiliary. She knitted, crocheted, and was an avid quilter. She prided herself in being active and not sitting still throughout her life. Marion felt that being involved in her community was what kept her going for the past 104 years. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 4-7 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Benedict's Church, 169 Speedway, Odessa. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
