Matthew L. Welton, 42, of Newfield, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 9, 2018. He was born in Montour Falls on June 16, 1976, the son of Daniel and Linda (Crandall) Welton and graduated from Watkins Glen High School. He was employed at Ben Weitsman of Ithaca. Matthew was a football fan and enjoyed going to the lake. He is survived by his parents, Daniel and Linda Welton of Newfield; two sons, Dillon and Branden Welton; two sisters, Naomi Schmidt of Bath and Kelly Welton of Ithaca; grandfather, Ed Reichman of Tioga Center; and by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday from 1-2 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Burial will be in Montour Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
