Merton E. Beebe, 81, of Odessa, passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Schuyler Hospital. Merton was born on April 14, 1934 in Catharine, NY the son of the late Sydney Beebe and Frances Burd Beebe. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gladys Crainey Beebe; a daughter, Kathie Beebe of Tallahassee, FL; a son, Kevin Beebe (Lisa Everett) of Watkins Glen; a brother, Guy (Virginia) Beebe; brother-in-law, Gerald (Joyce) Crainey; sisters-in-law, Harlene Beebe, Marian Bolin-Beebe, and Connie Beebe; several nieces and nephews; and beloved pets, Essie and Zeb. He was predeceased by his siblings, Paul B., Clyde, Elsie, Joy, Neal, Nelson, and Ione. Merton retired as an Operating Engineer with Rochester Local 832 Union in 1994 after 30 years of service. He was a devoted family man who enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and pets. He also enjoyed farming, watching sports, and reading. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
