Nancy Ellen (Tuma) Sauberan, 84, of Horseheads, NY passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Elmira, NY on November 15, 1940 the daughter of William and Minna Marie (Sorensen) Tuma. Nancy graduated from Odessa High School in 1958 and from Oswego State University in 1962. Nancy married her husband, Clayton H. Sauberan III, on July 7, 1962 in the Catharine United Methodist Church. She was a 3rd grade teacher for many years with Elmira City School District. She taught at Parley Colburn, Broadway Elementary and Thomas K. Beecher Elementary School. Nancy was very active in the Odessa-Catharine United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting, cooking and baking, and traveling all over the world, visiting all 7 continents. Nancy is survived by her husband of 63 years, Clayton H. Sauberan III; children, Jennifer Sauberan and Clayton H. Sauberan IV (Pamela); and grandchildren, Clayton H. Sauberan V and Hanna Sauberan. Her husband, children and grandchildren meant the world to her. Also surviving are siblings Roger Tuma, Susan (Tuma) Chadwick and Diana Wolf (Roger). She was predeceased by her parents; and sister, Margaret (Tuma) Cooley. Nancy's family would like to give special thanks to all of the caregivers over the last several years that allowed her and her husband to keep their independence. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm at the Odessa-Catharine United Methodist Church, 305 Church St., Odessa, NY. A Memorial Service will follow at 12:00 pm. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Odessa-Catharine United Methodist Church.
