Otto K. Miller, Jr., age 77, passed away peacefully January 3, 2026 at the Fred and Harriett Taylor Health Center in Bath. He was the son of the late Otto K. Miller, Sr. and Alice M. Fredericks, born on a mild Saturday morning October 2, 1948 in Elmira.
He attended Horseheads High School and at the age of 17, eagerly enlisted in the US Marine Corp on January 6, 1967. Otto served two tours of duty in Vietnam, being honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant.
Soon he began his career with Watkins Salt where he retired after 45 years. He live quietly in Watkins Glen for 55 plus years at the same house on N Decatur Street.
Otto was an avid hunter and fisherman, belonging to the Millport Hunting and Fishing Club. He wore many hats over the years at his beloved Montour Moose Club Lodge 426, serving in many capacities graciously and more times anonymously. He was a proud member of the VFW Post 8649 in Dundee and the American Legion Harry Bentley Post 443 in Elmira. Otto was a self-described "voracious" reader, visiting his favorite Barnes and Noble Bookstore faithfully. He was a die-hard New York Yankee fan along with the Buffalo Bills.
He is survived by his daughter Sara (Craig) Rhode of Lowman with children Cameron, Hanna and Benjamin; son Otto K. (Dove) Miller III of Winnabow NC with son Holland; sister, Suzanne M. Copp of Painted Post. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother James E. Miller.
It was Otto's wish there be no services. He will be interred at Woodlawn National Cemetery in Elmira at the convenience of his family, with full military honors.
