Peggy Kay Brown States, 77, of Montour Falls, NY, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. She was born in Montour Falls, NY on July 23, 1947 the daughter of the late Harold and Frances (Ward) Brown and graduated from Odessa-Montour Central School.

Peggy worked at Chemung Canal Trust Company in Montour Falls for 45 years. She enjoyed traveling, biking and going to car shows. She was an animal lover and enjoyed walking. She could often be seen walking around Montour Falls when she was working and in her retirement.

She is survived by her children, Kevin States (Heather) of Odessa, NY and Kelly States (Michael) of Knoxville, TN; her companion of 34 years, Clair Gunning and his family-Ciera and Claire Cole; grandsons, Kyle States (Olivia) and Jeffrey Steiner (Sarah); sister, Susan Brown (Ron) of Florida; and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Michael Brown.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 11:00 am at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY. A celebration of her life will follow at Noon at the Montour Moose Lodge, 2096 State Route 14, Montour Falls, NY. Burial will be in Union Cemetery of Hector at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Falck Cancer Center, 600 Roe Ave., Elmira, NY 14905.
