Our hearts are broken to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Philetus L. "Phil" Murray, Jr., of Alpine, NY, who passed away on April 10, 2018. Phil was born on July 30, 1933 in Smithboro, NY, the son of Philetus L. Murray, Sr. and Leona Bennett Murray. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Merritt, William, Patricia, Jack, Jerry and Richard. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Kay Murray; daughters, Karen (Keith) Hills, Koleen (Mark) Jastremsky, Michelle (Greg) Terpolilli, Jackie Byrski; son, Gary (Jeanne) Allington; grandchildren, Keith, Michelle, BillieJo, Tim, Jessica, Julia, Jenna, Candice, Jimmy and Amber; great grandchildren, Kaylee, Dena and Kendra; one aunt, Virginia Wilson; and several nieces and nephews. Phil served with the US Army during the Korean War from March 1953 to March 1955. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. in Owego, a member of the Moose club in Hornell, and a member of the American Legion in Campbell. Phil worked at Stackmore in Owego and retired in 1993 after 26 years at Borg Warner. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and especially loved spending time at his cottage on Keuka Lake surrounded by his family. He also enjoyed gambling, and his trips to Las Vegas, where he and Kay were married. We love you, and miss you and look forward to seeing you in Heaven. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 10:30 am-12:00 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 pm followed by burial at Niles Valley Cemetery.
