Phyllis J. Markowski

Phyllis J. Markowski, 69, of Lindley, NY, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2026 at Robert Packer hospital surrounded by family.

She was born in Elkland, PA on February 23, 1957, the daughter of Raymond and Shirley (Woodard) Buck. Phyllis graduated from Medina High School with the Class of 1974. She went on to attend Williamsport Area Community College and Corning Community College.

Phyllis began working for Corning Inc. in 1987 as a Union laborer and worked up to a Lab Technician position at Sullivan Park where she retired in 2021.

She is survived by her daughter, Felicia Smith of OH; son, Raymond Cook (Pam Bush) of VA; her significant other, Tom McCarty; grandchildren, Erin and Rae Smith, and Layne Cook; great grandson, Eli Cook; sisters, Dawn Dube and Sherry Buck (Deborah Cumer) both of FL; nieces and nephews, Matthew and Timothy Dake, Tammy Plotner and Tasha Mullins; and aunt, Louise Brutsman of Savona. She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Deborah Mullins; and nephew Jason Dake.

Phyllis enjoyed spending time with family, playing Yahtzee and other games, watching the Hallmark channel and soap operas, and catching up with friends at Del's Bar & Grill especially on wing night. In her younger years she liked to listen to bands and dance.

Burial will be in Nelson Cemetery in Nelson, PA. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Phyllis' life at the American Legion in Campbell, NY on Friday, September 25th from 4-8 pm.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Haughey-Wood & Zinger Funeral Home, Montour Falls, NY.
