Rose (Lachut) Cook of Odessa, NY, age 71, passed away at home Sunday, June 2, 2024 after an extended illness. She was the daughter of Stanley Lachut Sr. and Anna (Wantuck) Lachut. Rose graduated from Watkins Glen High School and worked for over 25 years for the Odessa-Montour and Dundee school districts as a library aide, teacher's aide, and teaching assistant. Rose was known for her kind heart and shared her love of reading and books with children throughout her career in education. She also loved animals and crafts and enjoyed sharing those loves with her grandchildren. Rose was predeceased by her parents, daughter Tammy, grandson Johnathan, and many beloved pets. She is survived by her husband Tom Cook, daughter Tracy (Greg) Gavich, son Travis (Seena) Cook, grandchildren Samantha (Luke) Brown, Manley Gavich, Gina Gavich, Kendrix Cook, and Kalia Cook, great-grandchildren Carter Brown and Theodore Brown, sister Helen Murinchack and her dog Brandy. There will be no viewing for the public. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation in Rose's memory to the Schuyler County Humane Society or Care First in Corning.
