Ruby Humphrey, 94, of Burdett, NY, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at her daughter's home near Rochester, NY. She was born on March 10, 1928 the daughter of the late Clarence and Elva (Dean) Terry. Ruby worked in a factory during WWII but most of her life was she was a homemaker, wife and mother. She enjoyed gardening and sewing. Ruby was the matriarch of the family. She was always the person who took care of everyone else. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl "Skip" Messersmith, husband, Bernard Humphrey; daughter, Kathy Messersmith Eaves; brothers, Robert Terry and Roy "Jack" Terry; and three grandsons, Daniel Flood, Andrew Flood and Doug Arnold. Ruby is survived by two daughters, Peggy Messersmith Flood and Bonnie Messersmith (husband Mike); two sons, Terry Messersmith and Robert Messersmith (wife Kim); three sisters, Sylvia Bowers, Arlene Ballings and Carol Smith; and by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, September 23, 2022 from 12:00-1:00 pm at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY. Her memorial service will begin at 1:00 pm followed by burial in Cayuta Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Ruby's memory to the charity of your choice.
