Ruth J. Thurston Pierce, 84, of Beaver Dams, NY and Inverness, FL, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022. She was born in Gouverneur, NY on January 7, 1938, the daughter of the late Donald and Jessie Parow. Ruth made her life has a homemaker, caring for her family. Ruth is survived by her husband of 12 years, Thomas C. Pierce; daughter, Lucinda Hart of Elmira; son, Kent (Rachel) Thurston of Watkins Glen; and five grandchildren, Samuel Brouwere, Allison Brouwere, Trevor Thurston, Colby Thurston and Madison Brouwere. She was predeceased by her late husband, Kenneth Thurston and by her daughter, Sharonelle Doane. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, March 18, 2022 from 4-6 pm at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. Ruth's funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Montour Cemetery. A celebration of her life will be held at the Beaver Dams Volunteer Fire Department following her funeral. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to a charity of your choice.
