Sandra L. Polakow

Sandra Lee (Aranda) Polakow, age 80, of Burdett, NY passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at Robert Packer hospital in Sayre, PA. Sandra was born on September 22, 1946 in Corning, NY to Aurelio H. and Josephine V. (Manning) Aranda.

She is survived by her loving husband Michael, at home; children, Aurelia L. Aranda of Rochester, NY and Demian D. Cummings of Burdett, NY; brother, Douglas A. (Brenda) Aranda of Lindley, NY; along with grandchildren, Daine Michael Johnson and Michelle Cam Minh Cummings; and one niece and one nephew.

Sandra received her Associates Degree from Corning Community College, and then went on to receive a Bachelors of Arts from California State University and a Masters of Science from Elmira College. She served the New York State Department of Corrections for 27 years, retiring in 2008 as Deputy Superintendent for Programs at Willard Drug Treatment Campus.
