Vera W. Armstrong, 80, formerly of Watkins Glen, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016. She was born in Prague, Czech Republic, on April 22, 1935, the daughter of the late Wilhelm and Fransiska (Wolf) Modrok. She married Michael W. Armstrong in 1959 in Karlsruhe, Germany. They shared 37 years of marriage together until Michael's passing in 1996. Vera worked as an electronics technician at AFI Cyber Co. in Elmira for 17 years until retiring on March 12, 2002. She was a former communicant of St. Mary's of the Lake Church in Watkins Glen. She enjoyed traveling and gardening. Vera is survived by her children, Mark (Brenda) Armstrong of Fort Lauderdale, FL., and Heidi (Rev. Gregory) Hager of Palm Harbor, FL; a brother, Lada (Hildegard) Modrok of Germany; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and one niece and one nephew. A private service will be held by the family in Montour Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, Montour Falls.
