Virginia S. Hanson, 98, of Odessa, NY, entered into rest on Sunday, February 19, 2023. Virginia was born on March 5, 1924 in Hampton, NJ to William and Irene Sampson. Virginia served in the US Navy, during WWII, from 1944 – 1946 stationed in Baltimore MD. Virginia lived the early part of her life, after service, in High Bridge NJ. She was a member of the High Bridge Fire Department Auxiliary, and a Cub Scout den mother. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in both NJ and NY. Virginia was preceded by her loving husband, of 62 years, Carl E. Hanson of Montour Falls NY, and son Dale R. Hanson of High Bridge, NJ. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gary J. and Deborah C. Hanson of Odessa NY; her granddaughters and their husbands, Bethany and Mathew Harbourt of North Hollywood CA, and Laura and Michael Canning of Chicago IL; as well as her great granddaughter, Elina Harbourt. Arrangements for the burial of Virginia and Carl's ashes will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Clinton NJ, as well as a celebration of life there at a future date. A celebration of life in Schuyler County NY will take place at a later date.
