William H. Coston, Jr.

William H. Coston, Jr., 89, of Montour Falls, NY, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

He was born in Farmington, NY on August 3, 1936 the son of the late William H. Coston, Sr. and Almeda (Miles) Coston.

Second to his love and dedication to his family, Bill was a lifelong truck driver, delivering feed to local farmers for well over 40 years. Following his retirement, he returned to driving truck, working for a local farmer until the age of 79. He loved anything with wheels and a engine. Most of his spare time was spent as a backyard mechanic, keeping himself and others on the road. He was of course, an avid NASCAR fan and he had a special place in his heart for his four legged friends, most recently Buddy then Pee Wee.

He was predeceased by his son, William A. Coston; and grandson, Rick Clugstone.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Ruth Mary (Fitzsimmons) Coston; four daughters, Karen Hadley of Waverly, Marjorie (Byron) Thompson of Watkins Glen, Cindy (Jeff) Dezell of Lisbon, and Ruth (Jeff) Rhodes of Alpine; daughter-in-law, Angela Coston of Watkins Glen; 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, May 11, 2026 from 2-3 pm at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY. His funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm.
