Obituary of Bessie F. Barrigar

Bessie Lamos Barrigar, 84, of Odessa, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at her home. She was born in Long Lake, NY on October 11, 1939, the daughter of the late Maurice and Lillian (Bailey) Lamos.

 

She received her MA in Education and was a teacher in the Odessa-Montour School District for 18 years, retiring in 1995. In addition to being a teacher, she was also a Pastor’s wife. She supported his ministry in three states. Bessie was an excellent pianist and soloist, and used these talents for the Lord.

 

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Harry E. Barrigar; three daughters, Pastor Tamara Veilleux (Tony) of Odessa, Loueda Bleiler (Dr. Brian) of Odessa, and Beth Horner (Bill) of Gillett, PA; foster daughter, Becky Carr (Chuck) of Williamsport, PA; two brothers, Father Bill Lamos (Julie) of CA and Rev. Marv Lamos (Jackie) of Gloversville, NY; eleven grandchildren; several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Ruthann Meade; and by four grandchildren.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, April 15, 2024 from 6-8 pm at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY and on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 from 1-3 pm at Bentley Creek Wesleyan Church, 13255 Berwick Turnpike, Gillett, PA. Her memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm. Burial will be in Long Lake Cemetery in Long Lake, NY on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Odessa Wesleyan Church, 203 College Ave., Odessa, NY 14869.
